Christina began her rhythmic journey at the age of 8 when her mother enrolled her in ballet, tap and jazz classes, in the Bronx where she grew up. She continued to venture out trying new things and enrolled in salsa classes as a young teen, at the very well known David Melendez Starlite Dance Studio where she became trained in Salsa On2 style of dance (New York Style), Cha-Cha and hip-hop. As a member of the very first Starlite Dance Studio performance team, she danced all the way through her first years of college. During her 8 year journey in Starlite, she performed in numerous venues and recitals winning competitions across the tri-state.
Christina was always interested in various forms of movement and dance and one day she decided to try yoga as an attempt to bring a sense calmness and relaxation into her daily hectic New York City lifestyle. As an aspiring young woman and a CUNY John Jay College graduate with both Masters ('08) and Bachelors ('06) degrees in criminal justice, Christina wanted a balance in her busy life and turned to yoga in the Spring of 2009. In yoga she found the balance her life needed and after taking a few yoga classes she decided that she wanted to explore more of what yoga had to offer, as well as improve and deepen her own practice. As a result, in the summer of 2009, Christina enrolled in the Sonic Yoga teacher training program in NYC and is now trained as a 200-hour Vinyasa Flow yoga instructor. She is certified and registered through Yoga Alliance and hopes to continue incorporating yoga in her daily life for many years to come.
